Suddenly I couldn't think of another excuse
The golfer Kristýna Napoleaová shared her weight-loss story with us. Despite being a professional athlete, she has spent the last years suffering from overweight and working out how to lose weight.
Kristýna was set for a professional soccer career. But her plans were spoiled by medical complications. She decided to invest her energy into her studies and travel. It was while studying abroad that she first "met" golf more seriously, and the game literally consumed her. So much so, in fact, that at the age of 20, she began preparing for a future professional golf career. And the effort paid off. She's a pro now, and golf has made her visit places she wouldn't otherwise have come across.
But there was a downside to studying abroad as well. Kristýna couldn't resist poor stress-related eating habits, and gained a lot of weight over the next few years. Maybe it was the purposefulness that we know from athletes, maybe self-dissatisfaction. Maybe both together. Anyway, she decided to lose the extra kilos. The result will literally take your breath away. Come take a closer look at her transformation.
What was that last impulse that made you start losing weight?
I knew all too well that my weight was going up all the time and if I didn't start doing something about it now, then who knows where it's going to go. It was already too high.Another impetus was a knee health problem. I thought it was time to start taking care of myself. Suddenly I couldn't think of another excuse, and I had to take action.
How has being overweight limited you in your life?
I was an active athlete from an early age and my body was used to movement. But suddenly I wanted to go up the hill on my bike and everyone was passing me, I couldn't catch my breath. I didn't feel comfortable in my own body at all. It's not even what other people say about you. I wanted to do something, and the "load" I was carrying wouldn't let me. I suddenly started to deny myself a lot of things, mostly with the idea that my knees wouldn't hold up.
“I wanted to do something and the “load” wouldn't let me.”
Did you believe keto-diet right from the start?
There were a few people around me whom KetoDiet helped not only to lose weight, but also to go back to a certain routine. I was rather hoping that something similar might happen to me as well.
I knew it wouldn't be easy and I'd have to say “no” to some treats. But there was this vision that if it worked, I'd be back in the game. I didn't want to lose weight from one day to the next.
I was thinking about golf, and I didn't know what it would do to my game, how it would affect the distances on tee shots, but also how my knees would react.
Which KetoDiet product did you like the most?
From the beginning, I've come to love the forest berry-flavoured protein smoothie. I usually had it for breakfast and as a snack. I had protein bread with butter for lunch. I had protein chicken soup for dinner. I'm an incredible "conservative"; once I get to like something, I'm able to stay on it for a long time. In fact, I went through the first step of KetoDiet mostly on these three products. I feel like I literally flew through that first phase.
“If it worked, I'd be back in the game.”
When you've finished your diet plan, how will you eat?
During my studies, my metabolic system was incredibly suspended, my body was merely starving. The first step of keto-diet taught me not only to eat healthy food, but to eat regularly. I stuck to it longer than recommended. The second step confirmed that I had not forgotten healthy eating habits. I would definitely like to continue with a healthy lifestyle. But I am a big believer in the importance of including the “cheat days”. We all need to let off some steam from time to time. Just remember that everything in moderation.
How was the last year with KetoDiet?
It was an incredible roller coaster, in a good way. As soon as I lost my first kilos in late 2019, I started to feel much better. I was generally more cheerful and content, which was reflected not only in my personal life but also in my sporting life. The body learned to function properly again, and I became active in things I hadn't been able to do in years.
“I was generally more cheerful and content.”
Will you tell us your sports plans for 2021?
The main tour hasn't made any statements yet because of the pandemic situation, so we'll see when and where we start. I would like to start the season again in South Africa. The atmosphere there was perfect. Even though the whole pandemic has had a huge impact on our lives, it has given me a chance to think about my priorities, what I want to achieve in life and how I need to appreciate what I have.
