8 tips for low-carb Christmas sweet treats that won’t ruin your figure

Can you imagine Christmas without sweet treats? But how to indulge in your favourite seasonal treats without worrying about piling on extra weight? It’s simple. Instead of the traditional recipes, enjoy our light yet delicious low-carb treats.
...and your slim figure will remain intact
However, before you tuck into all those lovely delicacies, it’s important to know that even low-calorie treats are not an excuse for stuffing yourself all day long. Unless you want to be starting your keto diet all over again in the new year, that is. All you need to do is to follow a few simple rules. “Set yourself a maximum number of sweet pieces you will allow yourself to have in a single day, for example 3 – 5,” recommends our dietician Martina Dvořáková who has been specialising in healthy eating for more than 15 years. “Also, don’t eat the sweets on top of your normal diet. Simply regard them as one of your meals, an afternoon snack for example. This will help you avoid consuming any extra calories.“
Before you start the oven, and not just for making Christmas biscuits and other treats, make sure you have high-quality ingredients. Avoid white wheat flour and white sugar. Go for spelt, almond or coconut flour instead. As a sweetener, you can use chicory syrup which is packed with healthy fibre and contains only 5g of sugar per 100g. Birch sugar is also a good alternative. In this way, you will be able to improve the nutritional profile of your sweet treats. Last but not least, don’t forget to exercise regularly even during the festive period.
TIP! Who says you have to endure those long brisk walks in the fresh air on your own? Team up with your friend or partner and do away with your excuse that you don‘t feel like getting out of the house.
